On the modeling of long-term HIV-1 infection dynamics

چکیده
In this paper we propose and study models of long-term Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV-1) infection. Our aim is to identify model mechanisms that allow to explain the trends observed in clinical measurements of the number of CD4+ Tcells and virus throughout the long-term HIV-1 infection, from the acute phase until the onset of AIDS. To achieve our goal we apply some standard methods of modeling and analysis of dynamical systems. Among these methods are model development and validation processes such as parameter estimation, as well as Painleve and bifurcation analysis. keywords: HIV dynamics, immune response, parameter estimation, dynamical systems

Stability and Numerical Analysis of Malaria- mTB- HIV/AIDS Co-infection (TECHNICAL NOTE)
In this paper, we develop a mathematical model to examine the transmission dynamics of curable malaria, curable mTB and non-curable HIV/AIDS and their co-infection. The size of population has been taken as varying due to the emigration of susceptible population. The total population is divided into five subclasses as susceptible, malaria infected, mTB infected, HIV infection and AIDS by assumin...
متن کاملA nonstandard finite difference scheme for solving fractional-order model of HIV-1 infection of CD4^{+} t-cells
In this paper, we introduce fractional-order into a model of HIV-1 infection of CD4^+ T--cells. We study the effect of the changing the average number of viral particles $N$ with different sets of initial conditions on the dynamics of the presented model. The nonstandard finite difference (NSFD) scheme is implemented to study the dynamic behaviors in the fractional--order HIV-1 ...
متن کاملBrief but efficient: acute HIV infection and the sexual transmission of HIV.
BACKGROUND We examined whether viral dynamics in the genital tract during the natural history of acute human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) infection could explain efficient heterosexual transmission of HIV. METHODS We measured HIV-1 concentration in blood and semen samples from patients with acute and long-term HIV-1 infection. We explored the effect of changes in viral dynamics in se...
متن کاملResidual Viremia in Treated HIV+ Individuals
Antiretroviral therapy (ART) effectively controls HIV infection, suppressing HIV viral loads. However, some residual virus remains, below the level of detection, in HIV-infected patients on ART. The source of this viremia is an area of debate: does it derive primarily from activation of infected cells in the latent reservoir, or from ongoing viral replication? Observations seem to be contradict...
متن کاملModeling the Slow CD4+ T Cell Decline in HIV-Infected Individuals
The progressive loss of CD4+ T cell population is the hallmark of HIV-1 infection but the mechanism underlying the slow T cell decline remains unclear. Some recent studies suggested that pyroptosis, a form of programmed cell death triggered during abortive HIV infection, is associated with the release of inflammatory cytokines, which can attract more CD4+ T cells to be infected. In this paper, ...
